Our Pirates showed up and showed out today for our Red, White, and Blue theme as we get ready to take on Berwick tonight here at KHS! The halls were filled with energy, school spirit was overflowing, and our staff could not be prouder of the way our students came together this morning.
Today was a reminder of what unites us. Pride. Hope. Freedom. Courage. One student’s shirt said it best: “Be FREE. Be BRAVE. Be UNSTOPPABLE!”

Allowed to Wear: Camouflage or safari attire (hats, vests, accessories welcome)
What NOT to wear: NO shorts, NO face paint, NO dressing as an animal
NEVER allowed (any day): pajama bottoms, shorts, leggings, joggers, face paint
Perks:
- Participating students do not pay $1 and will be given CLASS POINTS for participating!
- Not participating? You may wear jeans or sweatpants with a spirit shirt for $1 (Friday privilege).

KHS Football Game Safety Expectations
The safety of our students and community is our top priority. Recently, we have had too many children running around the stadium unattended, especially under the bleachers. This is unsafe and will no longer be allowed.
Effective immediately:
Parents are expected to watch their children at all times during the game.
No middle school or elementary student will be allowed to purchase a ticket without a parent present.
All high school students must show their current school ID at the gate. No exceptions.
No student is allowed to sit in the reserved ticket section unless they have a reserved ticket. Any student found in this section without a ticket will be asked by a police officer to leave the game.
We want our football games to remain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Thank you for helping us make this possible.☠️

Today, Kaplan High School celebrated a moment years in the making with the Unveiling of the Turf Field. Kaplan Elementary and FIEB joined the Class of 2026 for the first official running of the field, and it was a sight to remember. Tears were shed as our Kaplan High students and staff cheered from the stands, watching the next generation of Pirates take those first steps.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Dan Dartez and Superintendent Tommy Byler for making this the very first turf field in Vermilion Parish, and to Mrs. Kimberly Etie for bringing this unforgettable idea forward to our admin team.
We are grateful to see the community come together in such a powerful way. Today proved once again that we are forever Pirate strong and community strong. 🏴☠️

What a night to remember for our Mighty Pirates! ⚓️ Our boys took the field for the very first time on our brand-new turf and came out with a big jamboree win over Rayne, 23-14!
The energy in the stadium was electric from start to finish. Our student section was giving full Tiger Stadium vibes, loud, proud, and absolutely unstoppable!!!
A huge thank you to Dr. Dan Dartez and Superintendent Tommy Byler for making this incredible field a reality. Generations of Pirate fans will celebrate here, and tonight was just the beginning of something special.

What a night at Kaplan High School!
Our gym was packed with parents and students for Open House and the community pep rally.
The Mighty Pirates brought the energy, and under the leadership of our new head coach, John Thompson, the spirit was unstoppable!
Parents had the chance to meet our teachers, hear about our school goals, and learn more about what it means to be UNSTOPPABLE this year. The students were lit up with excitement, and the pride in Pirate Nation was felt everywhere.
It was truly a night to remember, and now the countdown is on. Friday Night Lights are just a couple of days away, and we can all feel the momentum of an unstoppable year ahead! 🏴
